Where Talks Between Aaron Rodgers, Jets Reportedly Stand Tuesday Afternoon

As Aaron Rodgers continues to mull his options, a significant development was made regarding one of his potential top suitors. A contingent of Jets officials are scheduled to fly out on Tuesday to meet with Rodgers in person, according to ESPN’s Rob Demovsky and Dan Graziano. ESPN’s Dianna Russini confirmed the news and added that they are meeting Rodgers in California and the Packers have given them permission to talk to the quarterback. It’s unclear whether a deal might be done at the end of the meeting.

ESPN originally reported that New York and Green Bay have started conversations about a possible trade for the four-time MVP earlier Tuesday morning. Rodgers has still not made any public announcement on whether he even plans to play in 2023, though. If he did decide to return, there’s still the chance he could do it with the Packers.

But the Jets have been widely rumored to be Rodgers’s top suitor in the event that he does opt to return to the NFL for a 19th season. And now that scenario is looking more and more likely.

This past season, the 39-year-old threw for 3,695 yards and 26 touchdowns to 12 interceptions. Green Bay missed the playoffs, however, and now may deal away their longtime franchise quarterback.
