Vikings to Sign Ex-Cardinals CB Byron Murphy to Two-Year Contract, per Report

The Vikings are reportedly finalizing a two-year, $22 million deal to land former Cardinals cornerback Byron Murphy, according to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport.

Murphy was one of the top cornerbacks in this year’s free agency market. He joins a Minnesota team in need of some help in its secondary after the exit of Patrick Peterson in free agency and the release of Cameron Dantzler.

The 25-year-old has spent the last four years with the Cardinals after Arizona drafted him in the second round of the 2019 NFL draft out of Washington. In Arizona, Murphy posted 34 passes defensed, five interceptions, five fumble recoveries, two touchdowns and three sacks.

Murphy did not play after Week 10 in the 2022 season as the Cardinals placed him on the injured reserve list with a back injury. He enters a Vikings cornerback room that includes Andrew Booth Jr. and Akayleb Evans within a defensive unit led by coordinator Brian Flores.
