Cam Newton Offers Colorful Quote After Announcing He’ll Throw at Auburn

Cam Newton has been out of the NFL for some time, but that hasn’t diminished his confidence in the least. The free agent posted a video on Monday where he announced that he will be throwing at Auburn’s Pro Day, but he had to take some shots during his highlight reel.

“Tell me how these randoms keep getting jobs,” he said. “I’mma show you. I can’t wait to show you. I love it.”

Clearly, Newton thinks some NFL quarterbacks don’t deserve their jobs and he certainly is of the mindset that one of those 32 starting jobs should be his.

“Ain’t 32 m------------ better than me, you dig?” he said with a laugh.

According to NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero, Newton will be throwing to his brother Caylin Newton during the Pro Day. The younger Newton is currently a wide receiver for William & Mary but used to play for the Tigers. He’s a 2023 NFL draft prospect.

Newton, who will turn 34 in May, went unsigned this past season and hasn’t appeared in a game since Jan. 9 2022 during his second stint with the Panthers. There was a time when Newton was one of the best athletes in the sport, but his MVP days are far behind him at this point.

While with Carolina in 2021, he started in five of his eight appearances and threw for 684 yards and four touchdowns. He also threw five interceptions and had a 55% completion percentage.

Newton won the Heisman and a national championship during his time with Auburn and he’ll look to recapture that spark.
