Bills ‘Love’ DeAndre Hopkins if He Wants to ‘Ring Chase,’ Says Insider

After visiting with both the Titans and Patriots, free agent wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins doesn’t appear any closer to signing a new deal anytime soon but ESPN’s Jeff Darlington believes the Bills are still in play if the price is right.

While calling into The Rich Eisen Show, Darlington was asked what the market is for Hopkins if he were “ring chasing”—meaning what contender would sign him if he were to take a pay-cut.

Darlington says he “got that sense” that Hopkins priced himself out of Buffalo, despite the franchise’s eagerness to add him to the roster.

“My understanding with the Bills is like, yeah, they love DeAndre Hopkins, he’d be a great addition, but they’re not gonna pay him,” Darlington said Monday.

The Cardinals released Hopkins in May after failing to find an optimal trade for the star wideout and he has been connected to several teams ever since. According to a June report from ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler, Hopkins is willing to wait until August before signing with a new team.

Hopkins, 31, missed the beginning of the 2022 season while serving a six-game suspension for violating the league’s performance-enhancing drugs policy. When he returned, the five-time All-Pro played like his usual self. He appeared in nine games and recorded 64 catches for 717 yards and three touchdowns.
