Raiders’ Josh McDaniels Reacts to Jimmy Garoppolo’s Interception Woes in Practice

New Raiders quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo is in the midst of a rough stretch at training camp but coach Josh McDaniels says he has “no concerns” regarding his quarterback’s play as of right now. Garoppolo has thrown a grand total of seven interceptions in just the last two practices alone.

“We’ve also seen some very good throws,” McDaniels said, according to The Athletic’s Vic Tafur. “It’s a very competitive camp.”

Granted it’s just practice, but all eyes are on Garoppolo as both he and Las Vegas have a lot to prove in 2023. The signal-caller was signed to immediately replace Derek Carr as the franchise quarterback and fans expect nothing less than a trip to the postseason after what they bore witness to this past year.

With the addition of Davante Adams last offseason, expectations were high in 2022 but the team fell drastically short, finishing with a 6–11 record under McDaniels in his first year as the team’s coach. For the Raiders’s sake, hopefully McDaniels is right and Garoppolo’s struggles aren’t a prelude of what’s to come during the 2023 season.

Their season starts on Sept. 10 against the Broncos in Week 1.
