Amari Cooper Makes Bold ‘Greatest Show on Turf’ Comparison for This Year’s Browns
Browns wide receivers Amari Cooper and Elijah Moore have both had their moments in the NFL, to be sure. Cooper has four Pro Bowl seasons under his belt, albeit none since his first full season with the Cowboys in 2019. Moore, still only 23, has shown flashes with the Jets.
However, Cooper believes Cleveland’s revamped wide receiver duo can take its collective game to the next level—specifically, a level befitting one of the most prolific offenses of this century.
“It’s been great,” Cooper said Monday. “Elijah makes a lot of plays. He’s a great compliment to the offense, great compliment to me. We’re going to be a great tandem together. I think about great tandems like Torry Holt, Isaac Bruce. That’s what I think we could be."
Cooper's comparison is a lofty one. Holt made seven Pro Bowls for the Rams in an eight-year span from 2000 to ’07. Bruce made four and was elected to the Hall of Fame in 2020.
Together, they made up a critical part of St. Louis’s vaunted “Greatest Show on Turf” offense, which netted a Super Bowl championship in 1999 and an NFC title in 2001.
The Browns, on the other hand, haven’t been at the vanguard of offensive football for many years. From 1999 to ’01, the Rams led the league in both scoring and total offense. Cleveland has not led the NFL in either category since 1960.
