Ever since Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes dislocated his kneecap while attempting a quarterback sneak in the 2019 season, coach Andy Reid has apparently been hesitant to reincorporate this move back into their playbook.

But Mahomes is trying to change that this season. He’s ready to utilize the quarterback sneak more because to him, it’s always been a successful move.

“I’ll always want to because I always say that I haven’t got stopped yet,” Mahomes said, via Ed Easton Jr. of USA Today’s Chiefs Wire. “Because even the one that my knee I got hurt on, I still got the first down. But I’m pretty sure he’s not going to let me do it unless it’s like for the Super Bowl, and so I might have to call my own number in the Super Bowl if we get there.”

It doesn’t sound like Reid is too enthused about the idea yet, though. Fans may have to wait to see if the Chiefs end up back at Super Bowl LVIII before seeing Mahomes attempt another third-or fourth-down push to move the chains.
