Bengals’ Zac Taylor Gives Encouraging Injury Update on Joe Burrow

Bengals coach Zac Taylor offered a positive outlook on quarterback Joe Burrow’s potential return for the team’s regular-season opener while speaking with media on Monday.

Taylor stated that Burrow appears to be looking much better than he did a few weeks ago when he suffered a right calf strain during training camp on July 27.

“He looks great,” Taylor said, via NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport. “Physically walking around, he looks as good as he's ever looked.”

Back on Aug. 9, Taylor sounded less encouraging about Burrow’s return, stating that it likely would take “several weeks from when I said several weeks” for the quarterback to fully recover.

But, just a few days after that, ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler reported that Burrow should be ready for the season opener against the Browns on Sept. 10. However, that timeframe for Burrow’s return has not been confirmed by Taylor or the team yet.

Burrow is not expected to play during the Bengals’ final preseason game Saturday against the Commanders.
