Rams, Steelers Agree to Trade Involving Former Offensive Starter
With the 2023 season on the horizon, the Rams and Steelers reportedly agreed to a trade on Sunday that will add some much-needed depth along the offensive line for Los Angeles.
The Steelers dealt starting guard Kevin Dotson, a 2024 fifth-round pick and 2025 sixth-round pick to the Rams in exchange for a ’24 fourth-round pick and ’25 fifth-round picks, according to ESPN’s Brooke Pryor.
Sunday’s deal coincides with an increased buzz around the NFL surrounding Tuesday’s deadline to trim roster to 53 players. Dotson, who started 17 games at left guard in 2022, concluded training camp as a potential roster casualty after the club signed two veteran guards in former Eagles OL Isaac Seumalo and ex-Jets OL Nate Herbig this offseason.
With the new arrivals, as well as the three-year extension guard James Daniels’ inked last year, the 26-year-old Dotson faced an uphill battle making the roster throughout camp while also nursing a shoulder injury during the final weeks.
A 2020 fourth-round pick out of Louisiana, Dotson will now head to L.A. where he wiill have an immediate chance to start, given the club’s lack of options and his experience. For his career, the 6-foot-5, 321-pound guard has started 30 of his 39 games played.
