Update on Cooper Kupp Week 1 Outlook: Rams WR Visiting Specialist to Understand Injury, per Report

Rams star wide receiver Cooper Kupp is in Minnesota on Sunday visiting a specialist to further understand the root of his hamstring injury, according to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport. The NFL insider added that it’s looking “less likely” that Kupp makes it back from injury to play in Week 1. 

Kupp suffered the injury on Aug. 1 during practice and has been classified as day to day by the team, but he also suffered a “setback” with his recovery, coach Sean McVay told reporters Thursday. He added that Kupp is dealing with a “muscle strain.”

The last time Kupp was healthy, he was arguably the best player at his position. In 2021, he led the NFL in catches (145), receiving yards (1,947) and receiving touchdowns (16) before capping off the year with a Super Bowl MVP performance against the Bengals. But he only played in nine games last season due to a high ankle sprain, and is now in danger of missing time again. 

The Rams start their season Sunday against the Seahawks at 4:25 ET.
