Bengals’ Taylor Calls Joe Burrow ‘Day-to-Day’ Ahead of Monday Night Game

The Week 3 status of Bengals star quarterback Joe Burrow remains murky ahead of Monday’s game against the Rams following a less-than-encouraging update from coach Zac Taylor.

Taylor announced Thursday Burrow has been labeled by the team as day-to-day as he continues to recover from a lingering calf injury he re-aggravated in the Week 2 loss to the Ravens.

With the winless Bengals beginning preparations for a pivotal Week 3, Taylor also noted it has yet to be determined whether Burrow, who initially injured his calf at the start of training camp, will practice. If he does, the 26-year-old isn’t expected to log a full session, with soreness reportedly an issue

“Giving him time is best,” Taylor told reporters, per Cincinnati’s WLWT.

While Burrow’s health remains firmly up in the air, it’s worth noting he managed to participate fully in all three practices ahead of Week 2. Of course, based on Taylor’s remarks, it seems possible the franchise QB could very well be in danger of missing a crucial early-season game, leaving backup Jake Browning to step in.

After a rough Week 1 performance, Burrow finished last Sunday’s game with 222 yards on 27-for-41 passing, two touchdowns and one interception.
