Super Bowl Champion Chris Long Offers Radical Idea to Handle NFL Fans Who Fight at Games

Super Bowl champion Chris Long has identified a problem.

The former Eagles and Rams edge rusher used the latest episode of his Green Light podcast to speak out against fans that fight at NFL games.

The issue was raised after videos spread on social media of numerous fights that broke out in the stands during Monday night’s game between the Cowboys and Chargers at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, Calif.

“People are picking up the stanchions, like the metal poles that are supposed to keep you out of the hot dog line and swinging them like battle axes,” Long said. “It’s out of control. I agree, we all agreed, a couple weeks ago, no more talking good about these fights. … They don’t entertain me at all.”

Unwilling to bring up a problem without offering a solution, Long pitched a radical, sarcastic idea that teams could use to contain the chaos that’s breaking out in the stands: a UFC ring.

“We’ve got to put a cage in these stadiums, where we get these f—ing fans in there, and they fight a fair one. There’s no higher ground. There’s no grabbing onto each other’s Dak Prescott jerseys. There’s no any of it.”

Long went as far as to pitch that fans could bet on the fights if the NFL game they were attending turned into a blowout, and he even invited commentators to get in on the action.

Long’s idea probably isn’t coming to stadiums anytime soon. For now, you’re best bet is still simply to avoid getting into a fight while attending NFL games.
