Falcons WR Drake London’s Superman-esque Front Flip Had NFL Fans in Disbelief
Falcons wide receiver Drake London put his body on the line on Sunday against the Buccaneers, doing everything in his power to reach for the end zone.
London's dramatic dive came in the third quarter with the Falcons in the red zone on a third-and-8 play. Quarterback Desmond Ridder found London on the sideline for a first down, and as he turned upfield, he was met by his defender right at the goal line.
With his helmet facing straight toward the ground, London reached for the end zone and appeared to lose his grip on the ball. Was it a touchdown? A touchback? Was he down or out of bounds?
It was a wild play that would require a thorough review.
While the referees looked at the play, fans watching at home were left in awe of the position of London's body in the air.
They also couldn't agree on what the officials would determine after the review.
The referees would ultimately rule that London's right hand scraped the white paint during the dive, putting the ball out of bounds just short of the goal line.
Unfortunately for the Falcons, they were unable to capitalize on the play, as Ridder fumbled the snap on the very next play to flip possession back to the Buccaneers.
