Eagles Acquire Kevin Byard in Trade With Titans
The Eagles acquired safety Kevin Byard from the Titans on Monday in exchange for Terrell Edmunds and two selections in the 2024 NFL draft, according to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport.
Philadelphia’s trade for Byard comes as the Eagles seek to overcome injuries to safeties Reed Blankenship and Justin Evans. Byard, drafted by Tennessee in ‘16, has registered 27 interceptions in his eight-year NFL career.
Through six games this season, the two-time Pro Bowler has tallied 47 tackles. In 2022, Byard notched four interceptions and 108 tackles. Byard led the NFL in interceptions with eight during the 2017 season.
Shortly after the trade, Byard penned a heartfelt note on social media thanking his teammates and the fans of the franchise.
“I’m grateful for all of my teammates—my brothers—who had my back, kept me in check, and pushed me to be better,” Byard wrote. “It’s been an honor to play alongside you these 7+ years.'

The Titans paid Byard $7 million of his $11 million 2023 salary in a modified deal in July. Now, the two-time first-team All-Pro has a new home in Philadelphia and reunites with Eagles wide receiver A.J. Brown with a chance to compete for a Super Bowl this season.
In addition to 27 interceptions, Byard has recorded 63 pass deflections and 674 tackles in 120 career NFL games. The eight-year veteran is one of two players (with the Bills' Jordan Poyer) in the league with 600 or more tackles and 20 or more interceptions since 2017.
