Bodycam Footage of Chris Olave’s Arrest Reveals He Told Police, ‘I Play for the Saints, Man’

Bodycam footage from Chris Olave’s Monday arrest obtained by TMZ appears to show the Saints wide receiver trying to get out of trouble by using his status as an NFL player.

Olave was arrested Monday night in Kenner, La., on suspicion of reckless operation of a motor vehicle, police said, per ESPN. Police said Olave was driving 70 mph in a 35-mph zone on Joe Yenni Boulevard, which was described in a Kenner Police Department press release as a “mixed business/residential area.”

The bodycam footage shows Olave in handcuffs and being walked to a police car, when he can be heard asking the officer whether he’s really being arrested. When the officer says, “Yup,” Olave appeared to see whether he’d win any sympathy by letting the officer know what he does for a living. It did not work out.

“My bad, dog,” Olave said. “I play for the Saints, man.”

The officer simply asked, “And?”

Olave, 23, was booked into the Kenner jail and was released later that same night. The Saints are aware of the situation but have not commented publicly. The second-year player out of Ohio State leads New Orleans in catches (39) and receiving yards (471).
