A Fired-Up Dan Campbell Gave the Best Postgame Speech After Lions Rallied to Beat Bears
The Lions fought back against the Bears in Week 11 to pull out an important division win, 31–26.
With just over four minutes left, Chicago kicked a field goal to push their lead to 26–14 over Detroit. The Bears looked to be cruising to an unlikely upset win, but the Lions rallied.
Quarterback Jared Goff connected with wide receiver Jameson Williams for a quick touchdown strike to cut the Bears’ lead to 26–21. After the Detroit defense forced a crucial three-and-out, Goff got the ball back with 2:33 on the clock needing a touchdown to win the game.
The Lions marched quickly on an 11-play, 73-yard drive that was capped off by running back David Montgomery diving into the end zone.
On the ensuing Bears possession, Detroit edge rusher Aidan Hutchinson tore through the offensive line and forced a fumble out of quarterback Justin Fields. The ball was kicked out of the back of the end zone for a safety. Ballgame.
After the win, the Lions locker room was a party with coach Dan Campbell offering his players one heck of a postgame speech.
“We are a resilient team, gentlemen. We are resilient. We go and find a way to win,” Campbell told his team after a few excited curse words. “They freakin’ came out and they fought us, but we f—ing fought harder, and we went and got the win. That’s outstanding.”
Campbell gave the game ball to Hutchinson, who also offered a few, more tempered words to his teammates.
The win pushes Detroit to 8–2 on the season, the best start the franchise has had since 1962. The Lions won't have much time to celebrate Sunday's win though, as they are set to be back in action on Thanksgiving against the Packers at 12:30 p.m. ET.
