Texans’ C.J. Stroud Shows Maturity With Quote About Steph Curry After Three-INT Game

Texans rookie quarterback C.J. Stroud only had thrown two interceptions this season prior to Sunday’s game against the visiting Cardinals.

Stroud threw three interceptions in Sunday’s 21–16 win over Arizona, a feat that could discourage an ordinary rookie. However, the 22-year-old handled his performance with grace, and he thought of one superstar athlete who gave him an extra boost of confidence.

“Man, Steph Curry don’t ever stop shooting,” Stroud said, via the Texans’ official website. “I’m going to keep letting it ride. And I’ve got no shame in my game. I’ve definitely got to be smarter. No confidence is taken away from me. I’m going to keep letting it fly.”

Despite the interceptions, Stroud enjoyed a productive game against the Cardinals. He completed 27 of 37 passes for 336 yards with two touchdown passes. The Houston quarterback seemed to focus on the positives of his performance rather than just the negatives.

“I thought we threw the ball really well,” Stroud said. “I don’t look at three plays and, like, dang, I had a bad game. Of course, I can’t turn the ball over that much. Threw for 300 yards again two touchdowns. I don’t think I played terrible, but of course, you can’t turn the ball over.”

The Texans improved to 6–4 with Sunday’s win over Arizona (2–9). Houston will face the visiting Jaguars (7–3) on Sunday at 1 p.m. ET with first place in the AFC South on the line.
