One of the best tight ends in NFL history revealed that the pain and discomfort of injuries has him seriously considering retirement.

While speaking with J.R. Moehringer for the Wall Street Journal, Chiefs star Travis Kelce shared that he ponders stepping away from the gridiron for good.

“More than anyone could ever imagine,” said Kelce.

The two-time Super Bowl champion admitted enduring the pain of past injuries on a daily basis has led to him contemplating leaving the violent sport sooner rather than later.

“That’s the only thing I’ve never really been open about,” Kelce added. “The discomfort. The pain. The lingering injuries—the 10 surgeries I’ve had that I still feel every single surgery to this day.”

The 34-year-old star, who owns a plethora of NFL records, including the most receiving yards in a season by a tight end (1,416), is destined for a spot in Canton at the Pro Football Hall of Fame.

However, before the talk of life after football, Kelce and the Chiefs are focused on winning their third Super Bowl in the last five seasons.
