Calvin Johnson Celebrated Lions’ NFC North Title by Replying to a 3-Year-Old Tweet

The Detroit Lions captured the first NFC North title in franchise history on Sunday and the team’s first division crown since winning the old NFC Central in 1993—bringing out quite the variety of reactions from Detroit fans online. From former players such as Barry Sanders to superstars like Eminem, it was a joyous occasion across X, the social media platform formerly known as Twitter. The event even brought out Calvin Johnson, who is chronically not online, and a hilarious interaction ensued.

The legendary wideout isn’t usually active on X, and that much became clear when he responded to a nearly 3-year-old tweet from Lions while using the platform Sunday to celebrate the win. Johnson casually replied to a tweet from the team that congratulated him on making the Hall of Fame. The tweet was from Jan. 5, 2021.

“Much appreciated,” Johnson wrote on X on Sunday. “Thanks for the continuous support! Love my city!”

Apparently, he didn’t love it enough to reply in a timely manner. The former Lions great gets a pass, though. After all, being the franchise’s all-time receiving leader gets you some wiggle room.
