Raiders to Hire Antonio Pierce As Full-Time Head Coach, per Report

Antonio Pierce will lead the Las Vegas Raiders’ next chapter of their franchise from the sidelines.

The Raiders have agreed to terms to promote Pierce to full-time head coach, NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo and Ian Rapoport reported Friday.

Pierce took over as the Raiders’ interim head coach after the organization fired Josh McDaniels on Nov. 1. Pierce led the Raiders to a 5–4 record the rest of the season, a stretch that included victories over division rivals in the Los Angeles ChargersKansas City Chiefs and Denver Broncos.

After the season ended, many Raiders players—including star pass rusher Maxx Crosby—voiced their support of the organization retaining Pierce as their head coach.

Over the last 10 years, Pierce is the third interim head coach that was hired as the team’s full-time coach the next season, joining Mike Mularkey of the Tennessee Titans and the Jacksonville Jaguars’ Doug Marrone.
