Andy Reid's Head-Scratching Time Management During Super Bowl Frustrated NFL Fans

In this story:
Kansas City Chiefs coach Andy Reid used a potentially costly timeout during the third quarter of Super Bowl LVIII against the San Francisco 49ers after the Chiefs were stopped one yard short of a first down deep inside their own territory.
It appeared that officials gave Kansas City a poor spot following a reception from Travis Kelce, but when Reid called timeout he opted against throwing the challenge flag.
As a result, the Chiefs faced a long third-and-1, from where Isiah Pacheco was unable to pick up a first down. Being so deep in their own territory, Kansas City was forced to punt the ball, meaning their timeout was effectively a total waste, especially considering Reid decided not to challenge the spot.
Reid’s decision-making during that sequence left NFL fans scratching their heads, as they were frustrated and confused as to why he didn’t challenge the spot in order to give Kansas City a better chance at converting on third down.

Andy Reid needs to be fined $2.5M for that timeout. At least call the doomed challenge!

classic Andy Reid, blowing a timeout early in the 3rd quarter

That is brutal coaching by Andy Reid for me. I don't understand calling a timeout. Just challenge the spot. And then set up your play during the challenge.

Andy Reid should have challenged the spot

Andy Reid with a brutal stretch of time and game management. He should’ve challenged the play. Worst case he loses a time out that he ended up burning anyhow. Then he ends up, not getting it and punting. Awful

Good for Nantz being all over that. Andy Reid could have saved Mahomes there by challenging the play.
