Chiefs Owner Addresses Andy Reid's Future After Super Bowl Win vs. 49ers
The Kansas City Chiefs are Super Bowl champions for the third time in the past five years after Sunday’s win over the San Francisco 49ers.
Once the celebrations subside following Wednesday’s championship parade, it’ll be back to business for the franchise as they aim to become the first team in NFL history to win three straight Super Bowls.
After the game, Chiefs owner Clark Hunt was asked about Andy Reid’s future with the franchise and the possibility of the 65-year-old heading for retirement after the team’s latest championship. Hunt told James Palmer of the NFL Network that he “fully expects” Reid to be back in Kansas City for the 2024 season.
Reid signed a six-year contract extension after the Chiefs’ Super Bowl win in 2019. He’ll be entering the fifth year of that deal in ‘24, though it’s possible that he signs a new deal with the organization.

According to CBS Sports, sources say Reid is more likely to sign an extension in Kansas City than he is to retire. Currently making a reported $10-12 million per season, the Chiefs’ coach could be in line for a big pay raise considering the team’s sustained success since he signed his current contract.
Reid now sits second all-time with 25 playoff wins, trailing only Bill Belichick (31), and is tied for third all-time with his three Super Bowl wins. With the opportunity to make history with a third consecutive championship, it seems ownership is expecting Reid to be back for another go around in ‘24.
