Patrick Mahomes Makes Definitive Statement About Chiefs Being NFL Dynasty After Super Bowl Win
The Kansas City Chiefs are once again Super Bowl champions, taking down the San Francisco 49ers in Las Vegas’s Allegiant Stadium on Sunday night for their second straight championship.
After the overtime win, Patrick Mahomes was asked on the field by CBS’s Tracy Wolfson if he believes the Chiefs have done enough to be considered an NFL dynasty. Kansas City has won three Super Bowls in the last five seasons, and Mahomes made clear he thinks the team is beginning to enter into dynastic territory.
“Yeah. It’s the start of one,” said Mahomes. “We’re not done. I know we’re gonna celebrate tonight, celebrate at the parade Wednesday in Kansas City, but we’re not done. We’re a young team and we’re gonna keep this thing going.”
At just 28 years old, Mahomes’s three Super Bowl wins are tied for fourth most of all time alongside former Dallas Cowboys quarterback Troy Aikman. Only Tom Brady (7), Joe Montana (4) and Terry Bradshaw (4) have more.

No team has ever won three consecutive Super Bowls, a feat Kansas City will aim to achieve next season. As back-to-back winners, the Chiefs join elite company in league history, as only eight other teams have won two straight Super Bowls–the 1966-‘67 Green Bay Packers, ‘72-‘73 Miami Dolphins, ‘74-‘75 and ‘78-‘79 Pittsburgh Steelers, ‘88-‘89 49ers, ‘92-‘93 Cowboys, ‘97-‘98 Denver Broncos and 2003-‘04 New England Patriots.
Mahomes didn’t balk at the opportunity to declare the Chiefs the NFL’s next dynasty when asked after the game, and they’ll be looking to defend their throne once again in the ‘24 NFL season.
