ESPN’s Bart Scott Rips Cowboys’ Micah Parsons for Oversensitivity, Lack of Leadership
ESPN’s Bart Scott never has been one to mince words, and he pulled no punches in criticizing Dallas Cowboys pass rusher Micah Parsons on Monday morning.
Scott, a former Baltimore Ravens and New York Jets linebacker, specifically bashed Parsons for not taking a leadership role on a Cowboys defense that allowed 41 points in a 48–32 wild-card playoff loss to the Green Bay Packers on Jan. 14. Parsons admitted weeks after the loss that he was afraid to show his face in public in the immediate aftermath.
“He’s lacking leadership,” Scott said on Monday’s episode of Get Up. “He doesn’t understand what winning in this league is all about. Is he a great player? Yes, but just because you’re a great player doesn’t mean you’re a great leader. He needs to go to a leadership school and learn how to lead by example and quit talking so much and being so damn sensitive.”
Scott based his opinion of Parsons’ sensitivity on the 24-year-old’s social media activity.
“You’re a linebacker. That’s supposed to be a tough guy spot,” Scott continued. “He’s the most sensitive guy I’ve ever seen. He responds to everything. Get off of social media. Quit tweeting. Quit talking about responding, and go about your business. That’s how you change the culture.”
