Murder Charges Issued in Kansas City Super Bowl Parade Shooting Case

Two adults have been arrested and charged with murder in connection to the Kansas City Chiefs’ Super Bowl victory parade shooting that killed one and wounded 22, Missouri prosecutors announced Tuesday.

Lyndell Mays of Raytown, Mo., and Dominic Miller of Kansas City each have been charged with second-degree murder, unlawful use of a weapon and two counts of armed criminal action. Both men are being held on $1 million bond and are currently hospitalized due to injuries sustained in the shooting, said Jackson County prosecutor Jean Peters Baker.

Lisa Lopez-Galvan, 43, a married mother of two and Kansas City-area radio personality, was killed in the shooting. The 22 wounded people ranged from age 8 to 47, police said. Two juveniles were detained last week on gun-related charges in connection to the incident, which occurred Wednesday near Union Station in Kansas City.

Baker alleged Tuesday that Lopez-Galvan was killed by a bullet from Miller’s gun. Authorities believe the shooting was provoked by a “verbal argument” that “very quickly escalated,” Baker said.

“We seek to hold every shooter accountable for their actions,” said Baker.
