Former Las Vegas Raiders running back Josh Jacobs is changing conferences.

The Green Bay Packers are expected to sign Jacobs to a free-agent contract after the new NFL calendar year begins Wednesday, according to multiple reports. Terms of the deal are not yet known, though Jacobs reposted a tweet on X, formerly Twitter, of a highlight video telling Packers fans to get ready for the star running back, seemingly confirming the news.

Jacobs, a first-round draft pick in 2019, spent the first five seasons of his career with the Raiders, rushing for over 1,000 yards three times while making the Pro Bowl twice. He led the league with 1,653 rushing yards in 2022.

Former Las Vegas Raiders tailback Josh Jacobs, who led the NFL with 1,653 rushing yards in 2022, reportedly is joining the Green Bay Packers.

On the heels of his career year in 2022, Jacobs sought a contract extension from Las Vegas, but he was instead slapped with the franchise tag, which provoked a holdout from the Alabama alum.  Jacobs ultimately signed a one-year contract this past August.

Las Vegas was expected to attempt to re-sign Jacobs this offseason but will now bid adieu to the 26-year-old.

In a corresponding move, the Packers released 29-year-old running back Aaron Jones on Monday, according to NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero. The Packers’ other notable running back, A.J. Dillon, is poised to become a free agent when the league year starts.
