Ravens’ GM Refutes Deebo Samuel Trade Offer With Perfect One-Liner

Baltimore Ravens general manager Eric DeCosta completely shut down a rumor Thursday that his team had reached out to the San Francisco 49ers to see whether star wide receiver Deebo Samuel was available for a trade—and he did so with a perfect one-liner. 

“I read The Lorax last week at a local elementary school, and I would probably put that report similar to that,” DeCosta told media members at a Thursday press conference. 

The Lorax, of course, is a fictional children’s book. So, it appears DeCosta didn’t think much of the report from Jason La Canfora of 105.7 The Fan.

Shortly after the quote went viral Thursday afternoon, the local radio host appeared to take a shot at DeCosta

“Thinking out loud but maybe I’ll start a story time segment where I read back texts from a habitually-lying general manager over the years,” La Canfora said on X (formerly Twitter). “That might be a fun radio segment. Oh where to start …”

In any event, Baltimore fans shouldn’t expect the former All-Pro wideout wearing purple and black anytime soon.
