49ers Trade Up with Cowboys in Latest Mock Draft

This would be an excellent trade and pick for the 49ers.

The NFL Draft is just a few days away. Which player do the experts think the 49ers will take?

Lots of experts think the 49ers will stand pat at pick no. 31 and take the best offensive tackle available, which is possible. But the last time they had pick no. 31 was 2020, and that year they traded up six spots to draft someone they targeted specifically, and that was Brandon Aiyuk.

This year, the 49ers could do something similar, according to Yahoo! Sports' latest mock draft, which projects the 49ers to trade up seven spots with the Dallas Cowboys, and to take Oregon State offensive tackle Taliese Fuaga with pick no. 24.

"The 49ers shoot up to nab a right tackle or right guard who can start right away in Fuaga, a lineman who is at or near the top of quite a few big boards. There are legitimate questions on whether Fuaga can stay out at tackle (I like him at guard better), but this type of offense would translate well from what Fuaga did at Oregon State and would help hide his deficiencies in pass protection. Whether it’s inside or out, Fuaga will add thump immediately to the 49ers' run game."

This would be an excellent trade and pick for the 49ers. They need a right tackle, and Fuaga is the best one in this draft. He might not ever be able to move to left tackle, but at pick no. 24, that's ok. As long as he's a high-level right tackle, he would be a good pick. And it seems likely that he will be a very high-level right tackle.

Good mock draft.
