Is There any Hope for Cornerback Jason Verrett to Rebound?

Cornerback Jason Verrett didn't have the 2019 season that he and the 49ers had hoped for. All it took was one deep touchdown pass for the 49ers to bench him in favor of Emmanuel Moseley. Injuries also took their toll on Verrett again, so it was essentially same story, different team for him.
When the 49ers initially signed him in free agency, they were hoping they could get similar luck like they did with Richard Sherman. Verrett does have incredible talent, but that talent doesn't do him any good if he cannot get on the field.
If he is healthy, then I would argue he could be the 49ers' second-best cornerback.
But before he can get there, Verrett needs to make a case for the 49ers to keep him on the active roster. From there, he will need to carve himself a role by any means necessary.
Which begs the question to ask: is there any hope for Verrett to rebound in 2020?
Abandon all hope. There is no way Verrett can rebound in 2020 and it isn't because of his health either. Verrett will struggle to find a role because the 49ers coaching staff already has their sights on Moseley and even Ahkello Witherspoon as the top corners after Sherman.
I would even go on a limb to say that Tim Harris and DeMarkus Acy have a better shot than Verrett because of their youth.
So Verrett is going to struggle to see the reps necessary to make an impression on the coaches. Even if he does make the active roster, there is just no way he can see the field on defense.
The only way Verrett has a chance to play cornerback for the 49ers is if injuries start to take place (knock on wood). That was really the only way he saw playing time in the first place when Witherspoon went down with an injury against Pittsburgh.
Verrett is an intriguing player. He definitely has the talent to be able to become a solid corner like early in his career. But at this point, he just has way too many hurdles to overcome to ever see the field on defense again.
