Bears Should Keep Tabs on These Chiefs, Cardinals Players Who Could Get Cut

The Kansas City Chiefs and Arizona Cardinals each have a cut candidate the Chicago Bears should have interest in.

The Arizona Cardinals and Kansas City Chiefs each have a cut candidate the Chicago Bears should be keeping an eye on.

In an article listing six cut candidates ahead of cutdown day on Aug. 30, Bleacher Report's Gary Davenport mentions Arizona Cardinals running back Trey Benson and Kansas City Chiefs cornerback Kristian Fulton.

Davenport cites Arizona's crowded backfield that also includes Jeremiyah Love, Tyler Allgeier and James Conner as the reason why Benson could get axed in the desert. Bam Knight is another player who appears more likely to stick over Benson.

Meanwhile, Davenport thinks Fulton could get booted from the roster because he's buried on the depth chart behind guys like Mansoor Delane, Nohl Williams, L'Jarius Sneed and Kader Kohou.

Here's why the Bears should be keeping tabs on both.

Why Bears should have interest in Trey Benson

The Bears' running back situation is a bit of an issue right now.

Not only is Kyle Monangai dealing with a hyperextended knee that leaves his status up in the air for Week 1, but the team's favorite for the RB3 role, Roschon Johnson, has posted a pedestrian performance during the preseason.

Unless you're a believer in Salvon Ahmed, it's safe to say the Bears could use a move at running back.

A former third-round pick, Benson saw his 2025 campaign cut short due to injury, but he did rip off 5.5 yards per carry in four games, which shows some promise.

Benson hasn't been more than a limited participant in training camp, though, as he works his way back from last year's knee injury, so that is obviously something to monitor.

But if Benson gets healthy and the Cardinals end up cutting him or are willing to deal him for a late-round pick swap, the Bears should have interest.

Why Bears should have interest in Kristian Fulton

The Bears have seen a littany of injuries in the secondary during the offseason. At cornerback, Kyler Gordon and Jaylon Jones are both injured, and that could leave Chicago depending on a rookie in Malik Muhammad to start in the slot come Week 1.

As if that wasn't concerning enough, Tyrique Stevenson is slated to be the starter opposite Jaylon Johnson and we saw how badly that went in 2025, when Stevenson got himself benched.

Fulton's career has been a disappointment overall, and there have been injury issues for him, but he is still a fine insurance policy to have around, as evidenced by his 55.6% completion percentage and 81.7 passer rating allowed when targeted last season.

Chicago could do a lot worse than Fulton when it comes to adding a backup. He should be on their radar for a cheap trade or waiver claim.
