Kyle Monangai, Luther Burden and More Bears Injury News for Preseason Week 2

In this story:
With the Chicago Bears taking part in preseason Week 2 against the Cincinnati Bengals on Saturday, it's time for our latest injury round-up.
This week's round-up includes many of the same players as in past injury round-ups. Headlining this group is receiver Luther Burden, running back Kyle Monangai, and cornerback Kyler Gordon and Jaylon Jones.
On top of those players, we'll also see what the latest is on the guys who are on the PUP list.
Let's get to it.
Luther Burden injury update

Burden is dealing with a strained groin and ESPN's Adam Schefter reports he will not play for the entire preseason as a result.
Thankfully, Burden is slated to be ready for Week 1.
"Chicago WR Luther Burden III is expected to miss the preseason due to the strained groin injury he suffered Saturday, but the Bears believe he should be back for the team’s regular-season opener vs. the Panthers, per sources," Schefter said.
In the week leading up to preseason Week 2, fellow wideout Rome Odunze noted that Burden's recovery is "going well," so things appear to be moving in the right direction for him.
Kyle Monangai injury update

ESPN's Jeremy Fowler reported that Monangai would miss "multiple weeks" with his hyperextended knee.
We were, of course, cautious to fully bank on that report after Schefter whiffed on the Coby Bryant injury, but the Bears have since said something similar, with head coach Ben Johnson labeling Monangai as week-to-week.
While Monangai's injury doesn't appear to be a long-term issue, we still don't know what his status is for Week 1.
Kyler Gordon injury update

Gordon has been on the PUP list since the start of training camp and he has not taken part in any practice this offseason because of his unspecified calf injury.
When asked about Gordon during the week, Johnson kept it short and sweet, but he did not provide an actual update.
"There's nothing new to add right now," Johnson said when asked for an update.
"Yeah, I see him in the building," Johnson said when asked if he sees Gordon.
"Yep, there's a plan and he's working toward that plan," he added when asked if there's been any progress.
At this point, even speculating on how much longer Gordon could be out is futile. We'll just have to wait and see.
What we do know is that frustrations in the building are mounting. General manager Ryan Poles has admitted he is frustrated, and Johnson's short answers in recent weeks show he is, also.
Jaylon Jones injury update

Jones has been out since he exited the Aug. 6 practice early and has not taken part in a session since. He's dealing with an ankle injury.
Before kickoff on Saturday, the Chicago Tribune's Brad Biggs reported that Jones was going work on the field with trainers, which is a good sign he's progressing in his rehab.
PUP list injury updates

LB Keyshaun Elliott (back): Elliott has been on the PUP list since training camp started and missed time during OTAs and minicamp. NFL Network's Stacey Dales reported on Aug. 15 that the rookie could return to practice this week, but that didn't happen.
DL Shemar Turner (knee): Turner is working his way back from a torn ACL. The last we heard of him, Turner was doing rehab work on the side field at practice on Aug. 6. That is the most we have heard about him pretty much all offseason long.
DB Elijah Hicks (shin): Hicks reported shin discomfort at the start of training camp. We haven't gotten any information lately, but as ESPN's Courtney Cronin reported on July 28, "the Bears do not see his injury as anything major."
