Bengals Offense Searching For Consistent Success: 'Need to Get it Going Now'

In this story:
CINCINNATI — Cincinnati's offense has struggled with any modicum of consistency to start the 2023 season as Joe Burrow works his way through the lingering calf strain.
The Bengals are last in overall success rate on offense and 31st in rushing success rate (30.2%), just ahead of the Steelers, putting a cap on big play chances and throwing the ball. Wide receiver Ja'Marr Chase is coming off a career-high 12 catches as he searches for his second 20-plus yard catch by air yards this season.
"We still just getting started on the plays right now," Chase said on Thursday. "I haven't caught a deep ball yet so right now, just working underneath right now. I'm not complaining about anything. We're going to get it together though. We gonna have some deep routes soon."
Burrow hit Chase for 43 yards in the third quarter on Monday night from a rare pistol set out of the Bengals offense. That could be a nice way to unlock new looks out of a stagnant offense due to injury.
Either way, Chase is ready to continue being a workhorse. With 10 catches against Tennessee, he would match Jarvis Landry as the third-fastest player to 200 catches in NFL history.
"Hope we can turn it around and get this started right away," Chase said. "All that waiting down the line to get it started. We need to get it going now to get this executing and going."
