Bills Absent Stefon Diggs: 'None of This S*** Can Phase Me!' (What's The Problem?)

Bills star Stefon Diggs is sharing a series of cryptic tweets that appear to respond to any criticism regarding his absence at OTAs. What's the problem here?

As mandated by the NFL, these ongoing OTAs are "voluntary,'' and so Stefon Diggs (like a handful of other Buffalo Bills players) is well within his rights to skip them.

And he obviously knows that. So why is the star wide receiver responding via social media with so many angst-causing cryptic remarks?

On Tuesday, Diggs tweeted, “Mentally none of this s*** can phase me…,” and “God can lead me,” and then added, “Clear mind, clear vision ... whole heart.”

That's lovely. "Clear minds'' are nice. But the more Diggs tweets in his usual attention-getting way, the less "clear'' things seem to us.

This much is certain: The people "in charge'' around here, led by Bills general manager Brandon Beane and head coach Sean McDermott but also including team leaders Josh Allen and Von Miller, seem un-phased.

Said Allen “We’d love to have him here. (But) I understand OTAs aren’t for everybody ...''

Said Miller: “He’s not here right now, but I don’t think it should ever be a question is football No. 1 on his mind,” Miller continued. “The way he comes out here each and every practice, the way he commits to his teammates. Sometimes you need a little bit of time …

“Is he going to come out here and is he going to be better than last year? Is he going compete? Does he still love the game? And all of those boxes are checked.”

Diggs is, by the way, keeping busy in other ways. He's staging his kids football cap in Maryland on June 17. He recently teamed up with his family to host an All-Star charity basketball game in Washington D.C. that raised $30,000 for the Tender Foundation.

The next check-in? Mandatory minicamp for the Bills starts June 13.

Said Miller: “We’re talking about Stefon Diggs, one of the best receivers in the game. We’ve got Josh Allen. He’s not going anywhere. This is our guy. The Josh Allen-to-Stefon Diggs connection is what makes all of these things go for us here in Buffalo and Bills Mafia.”
