Bills OL Connor McGovern Receives Concerning Injury Update
The Buffalo Bills have dealt with their share of injuries throughout training camp and preseason, and no unit has been hit harder than the offensive line.
Buffalo's offensive line was already a point of concern, and those worries have only grown with the amount of injuries the unit has suffered. Tommy Doyle suffered a season-ending injury in Saturday's loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers, while Spencer Brown dealt with some minor ailments. The Bills also lost reserve lineman Brandon Shell, albeit due to a sudden retirement and not injury.
Then on Wednesday, the Bills suffered yet another setback up front when Connor McGovern left practice early with a knee injury. He didn't return to practice, but was able to watch from the sidelines, so the extent of his injury wasn't clear. To add to the lack of clarity, coach Sean McDermott said Thursday that he's not sure whether McGovern's injury is serious or not.
"We'll see how it goes," McDermott said. "Right now it's too early to tell just how he's gonna come back from it, but we'll see how he does here."
Losing McGovern for any extended period of time would be a nightmare for the Bills. The former Dallas Cowboys guard was the Bills' biggest pickup of the offseason, signing a three-year deal worth over $22 million. McGovern, who started 15 games for the Cowboys last year, is projected to start at left guard for the Bills this season.
Needless to say, the Bills will be holding their breath that McGovern didn't suffer anything too serious.
