Bills Ex Cole Beasley Tired of Gabe Davis Critics: 'Works His Ass Off!'

Cole Beasley has made his love for the Buffalo Bills organization clear in the past, and proved it on Tuesday when coming to the defense of receiver Gabe Davis.

The Buffalo Bills have yet to re-sign veteran receiver Cole Beasley to a new deal this offseason and as of now, it's a move that seems unlikely to happen if it hasn't already.

But Beasley has made his love for the Bills organization clear, and there might be no one he loves more than his former teammates on offense. This includes receiver Gabe Davis, who has been the subject of some recent criticism due to inconsistent play this past season.

Beasley doesn't want to hear or read any of it.

He took to Twitter on Tuesday to defend his former teammate and forever friend against an article that was questioning whether the Bills should "trust Davis to improve next season."

"Gabe works his ass off. He won’t ever get worse," Beasley wrote.

A fan responded to Beasley, citing pass drops as a reason for Buffalo to upgrade from Davis.

Beasley's response didn't come as much of a surprise, and he had the facts to back it up.

"He improved in every stat category last year from the previous even with a nagging ankle injury," Beasley tweeted.

He certainly isn't wrong.

After his historical end to the 2021 campaign, which saw Davis post eight catches for 201 yards and four touchdowns in the thrilling 42-36 overtime loss to the Kansas City Chiefs in the AFC Divisional, the expectations were high for the third-year receiver headed into 2022. He had already defied the odds after being a fourth-round pick.

And while Davis didn't exactly post four touchdowns and 200 yards every game this past season, he still finished with a career-high in catches (48), receiving yards (836) and yards per catch (17.4) while tying his career-best with seven touchdowns. Hard to complain with this kind of production.

Beasley brought the heat and the receipts, but Bills fans do have some understandable frustrations, especially since Davis only had one 100-yard receiving game this past regular season. This just so happened to come on the day where he scored a 98-yard touchdown.

But the entire Buffalo offense felt inconsistent throughout the season, something that reared its head at the worst time in the embarrassing 27-10 playoff loss to the Cincinnati Bengals.

If the Bills want to reach the football mountaintop, sure, Davis will need to bring his game to new heights. But it's hard to call his performance last season a disappointment when the numbers - and Beasley - are here to prove otherwise.
