Bills Blast Raiders RB Josh Jacobs Over 'Stupid S***' Pro Bowl Comments
Las Vegas Raiders running back Josh Jacobs is reaping the rewards following the best season of his career in 2022.
Jacobs, who led the league with 1,653 rushing yards while adding 12 rushing scores, was named an All-Pro for the first time in his career and earned his second-ever Pro Bowl nod.
But despite getting to participate in the newly-formatted Pro Bowl Games in his home venue of Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas, Jacobs recently admitted that he thinks "this s*** is stupid" when referring to the new format, which is highlighted by events that feature the NFC and AFC facing off in a flag football game and dodgeball tournament.
Buffalo Bills long snapper Reid Ferguson made sure to call out Jacobs for coming off as being ungrateful despite having the option to skip the event altogether.
"I don’t understand his point here," Reid tweeted. "You earned the right to go there, collect a Pro Bowl check., and also knew what the Pro Bowl has turned into. If it’s so “stupid," forgo the weekend in Vegas. Am I missing something?"
Jacobs' comments were taken with a bit of controversy, as having the NFL's leading rusher publicly display his dissatisfaction with how the league honors it's stars isn't good for PR.
This seemed to be one of the reasons Ferguson felt it was necessary to call out Jacobs' remarks.
"He knew exactly what he was getting himself into with the Pro Bowl weekend in Vegas. Collecting a check then trashing the event is a bad look," Ferguson said in another tweet.
Reid makes some excellent points, especially since Bills quarterback Josh Allen elected to forgo a trip to Vegas in order to golf at the Pebble Beach Pro-Am.
Allen was one of many stars who chose to sit out the festivities. Jacobs had the option as well. So why participate in activities that are "stupid as s***" when no one would blink twice if you skipped?
Jacobs is sure to make more Pro Bowls in the future, and it'll be interesting to see what changes first: the format or his opinion.
