Bills Proposed as Free Agent Destination for LB Justin Houston

NFL Insider Matt Lombardo named the Buffalo Bills as a potential destination for free agent linebacker Justin Houston.

NFL free agency has been open for two months now, and most players have already signed their new deals. However, there are a few players still looking for new homes, and linebacker Justin Houston is one of the most notable.

Houston has been in the league for over a decade now and he's still very productive. Last season with the Baltimore Ravens, the 34-year-old posted a team-leading 9.5 sacks despite only playing 44 percent of the team's defensive snaps. There's no question that the four-time Pro Bowler can still provide great value to a team.

One team that could benefit from signing Houston is the Buffalo Bills. Their pass rush was just average last season with 40 sacks, and their best pass-rusher in Von Miller could miss the start of the season as he recovers from a torn ACL. If the Bills want to add some extra punch to their pass rush, Houston might be the best option remaining.

According to NFL insider Matt Lombardo of Heavy, Houston is receiving "significant interest" from multiple teams, and Buffalo is one of the premier landing spots.

"Houston would serve as another fastball in Sean McDermott’s defense, bolstering a pass rush that produced only 40 sacks as a team," Lombardo writes. "Buffalo must find a way through a quarterback gauntlet that includes Patrick Mahomes, Joe Burrow, Justin Herbert, Lamar Jackson, Aaron Rodgers, and Tua Tagovailoa if the Bills are ever going to reach a Super Bowl. Houston would certainly help."

However, the Bills aren't the only team vying for Houston's services. Lombardo also named the Jacksonville Jaguars, New York Giants and Chicago Bears as possible fits.

Of those teams, though, the Bills could provide Houston his best chance at a ring. This is a move that could greatly benefit both the team and the player.
