Report: Buffalo Bills Coach Sean McDermott 'In Serious Danger' of Being Fired
Buffalo Bills coach Sean McDermott has little time left to turn this 2023 season around. If he can't and the Bills miss the playoffs despite their abundance of talent on both sides of the ball, then he could soon become the third Buffalo coach to be fired/relieved of duties in this calendar year.
ProFootballTalk's Mike Florio confirmed this by reporting that McDermott is on very thin ice.
"I think Sean McDermott is in serious danger of being fired," Florio said on 105.3 The Fan. "He scapegoated Leslie Frazier last year with kind of a weird, belated, soft non-firing firing and now McDermott’s in charge of the defense.”
This season was never going to be an easy one for McDermott. Frazier’s departure put a lot on his place, as he had to take on the challenge of taking over as defensive coordinator.
Florio questions if Dorsey would’ve been fired had the Bills held on to win that game despite the offense’s struggles. Winning always makes things easier, but one could argue that it was McDermott who lost Buffalo the game due to the game-sealing 12-man penalty on the missed field goal that gave Denver another chance to win it.
“If they don’t have 12 guys on the field for that field goal attempt that went wide, is Dorsey getting fired?”
The Bills will look to move past an eventful week and secure a win on Sunday at home against the New York Jets. The kickoff time is set for 4:25 p.m. ET.
