Sean McDermott Rumor: Adam Schefter Hints Buffalo Bills Coach Could Get Fired

Very few of Buffalo Bills coach Sean McDermott are willing to just come out and say it ... including ESPN's Adam Schefter, who is now joining the delicate dance of suggesting that McDermott may be on the verge of getting fired.

"Suggesting'' without "saying'' ... as exhibited multiple times in just a few seconds during an appearance on "The Pat McAfee Show" on Wednesday. Let us count the ways ...

*Schefter told McAfee "the pressure is on" for McDermott but then softened that (with a dance step) by adding, "To me, it's some basic common sense that Sean McDermott knows the pressure is on him.''

*Schefter said, "They changed their defensive coordinator (moving away from Leslie Frazier) in the offseason. They changed their offensive (coordinator Ken Dorsey) in-season. If they don't get the results they want, they're gonna have to look at everybody here, right?''

*Schefter uses the infamous "many people'' device twice in one sentence, saying, "Many people thought (these Bills) had Super Bowl capabilities. This team has struggled recently to regain the form that many people thought they'd have.''

*Schefter, obviously referring to McDermott, said, "At some point in time, there are no other people to get rid of.''

ESPN never quite "says it.'' ... and in a CYA world, we get it. McDermott, who has been coaching the Bills since 2017, during which time they've only missed the playoffs once, could certainly lead a turnaround of his 5-5 program - and if he did so, any noteworthy journalist that predicted otherwise would be left looking like they're dancing with two left feet.

So it's "hints'' and "innuendo'' and "whispers'' and the carefully unstated ... like ... "I think he knows the pressure is on,'' Schefter said. "Everybody is watching them right now."
