Report: Browns Need More Information On Deshaun Watson's Ankle Injury
Just two weeks removed from returning to action after nursing a rotator cuff injury, Browns quarterback Deshaun Watson is dealing with yet another injury.
This time it's an ankle, sustained in the first half of the Browns 33-31 win over Baltimore on Sunday. And even though he only missed one play after being injured it appears he may not be out of the water to suit up in Week 11.
According to Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network, the Browns are still "gathering information" regarding the ailment to determine if Watson will be on the field against the Steelers this weekend.
Rapoport does note that the fact Watson returned to action on Sunday was a good sign that the injury may not be to serious. He also mentioned that Cleveland is exercising an abundance of caution with their star QB after initially rushing him back on the field too soon before his shoulder was 100-percent healed.
During his Monday media availability, head coach Kevin Stefanski confirmed that Watson had undergone and MRI but wouldn't elaborate further than that. He did add that he'll have more information on the severity of the injury when the team returns to practice on Wednesday.
The 28-year-old was seen in a walking boot during his postgame press conference where he confirmed that he was injured late in the second quarter, on a play he was sacked by Jadeveon Clowney. The former Brown did make a point to apologize to Watson after rolling up on his ankle while bringing him down on the play.
Watson also expressed an adamancy that he'd be "ready to go" when the Browns kick things off with Pittsburgh next week. However, Cleveland already found out this season that Watson saying he can play and actually letting him play are two different things.
