Browns Releasing Anthony Schwartz
According to Brad Stainbrook of the OBR, the Cleveland Browns are releasing wide receiver Anthony Schwartz.
Schwartz also tweeted out his apparent goodbye to Cleveland as well over the last several minutes.
For the Browns they will be waiving him with an injury designation as he has been dealing with an injured hamstring. All signs have pointed to the team being ready to move on after a rocky first two years for the former third-round draft pick. The team added Elijah Moore and Marquise Goodwin through free agency and added Cedrick Tillman in the draft.
For Schwartz, he will have a possible fresh opportunity to land somewhere else. The former track sprinter has world-class speed and another team may be tempted to give him a shot. His time in Cleveland almost seemed doomed from the start. In week two of his rookie year, he pulled up early on an overthrown pass from Baker Mayfield on a play that would leave Mayfield injured.
Many fans heaped the blame on the rookie receiver and it seemed to affect him mentally. Soon after, drops would begin to plague the rest of his time with the team. Hopefully a fresh start elsewhere can help him to resurrect his career.
