Browns Sign Tommy Togiai Back to Practice Squad

In this story:
The Cleveland Browns have signed third year defensive tackle Tommy Togiai back to the practice squad. In a corresponding move the team released cornerback Lorenzo Burns. Togiai who was originally drafted by the Browns in the fourth round of the 2021 draft was with the team during the entire preseason and was waived as part of roster cuts.
The team reportedly wanted to bring him back to the practice squad initially but Togiai ended up signing to the Jaguars practice squad. He wasn't there long as the Jaguars cut him last week before the season opener. Togiai joins Trysten Hill as the other defensive tackle on the practice squad to round out great depth at that position.
After playing poorly during his first two seasons, the former Buckeye standout looked to have taken a step forward this preseason with his play. Sometimes it takes defensive tackles some time to develope. He will now have another year in a place that should be comfortable learning from Jim Schwartz and the group of professionals in front of him on the depth chart.
