Buccaneers’ GM Jason Licht Trolls NFL Insider After Breaking Free Agent Signing

Tampa Bay Buccaneers GM Jason Licht joked with NFL Insider Adam Schefter after breaking free agency news.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers front office staff should be commended for the work they have put in this offseason. A lot of the moves they have made have been slightly overlooked because much of them have occurred in-house, but the Bucs have been one of the best teams during free agency thus far after retaining key members of their 2023 roster.

During the week, while negotiations were still ongoing with multiple players, Bucs GM Jason Licht mentioned that he would be spending Friday out on the boat in Tampa Bay, and in an even more shocking move, he was still putting in that work while enjoying the Florida sunshine as a number of moves were made official on Friday — including Licht himself breaking the news that QB John Wolford would be re-signing with the team on a one-year deal.

Usually, a general manager isn’t one to break the news of a signing, but with Wolford, Licht announced the deal via his social media account much to the surprise of NFL Adam Schefter, who is usually one to break news. Licht in return trolled Schefter a bit by saying he’s not sorry about it.

Licht has done a tremendous job since arriving to the organization. He has become a household name because of his job in Tampa Bay and now those outside of One Buc Place and the city of Tampa are starting to recognize how great he is.

The re-signing of Wolford now sets the Bucs up with all three quarterbacks they had on their roster in 2023 and will look to run things back in 2024 with much of the roster intact after the masterful job done by Licht and company.
