Newest Draft Pick Kei'Trel Clark Brings Tenacity to Cardinals Defense

From Louisville to Arizona, Kei'Trel Clark was made to play for the Cardinals.

TEMPE -- Sometimes waits can be a long time, especially for players being selected towards the end of the 2023 NFL Draft.

Often times players can grow impatient - but not Lousiville DB Kei'Trel Clark, who was just drafted by the Arizona Cardinals in the sixth round.

"I'm enjoying this moment. It's a blessing," said Clark to reporters shortly after his selection.

"This was God's plan. This was the starting point of my career whether I would have went first round or like I did going into the sixth, it is what it is. Just know the Cardinals organization got somebody who is going to be a dog and somebody who's going to be a leader in this program. I'm ready. I don't care where I went, I'm glad I went to the Cardinals. I knew on my top 30 visit when I met with Coach JG [Jonathan Gannon] that this was a great fit for me. I just knew it all along. I knew it."

Perhaps the connection was there all along - Clark joked that he told Arizona, "Once a Cardinal, always a Cardinal" in reference to him now playing for Cardinals at both the college and professional level. Gannon coached at Louisville and Cardinals CB Ryan Smith - when he spent time at James Madison before heading to the pros - recruited Clark when he was in high school.

"It's all destiny, man. I feel like it's willing to happen. I feel like they can use me in so many different ways. I just love the program and I love what they're building over there. So I'm excited," said Clark.

Clark is capable of doing a few different things on the football field, but most notably he attacks the football near the line of scrimmage despite being considered undersized at 5-10 and 180 lbs.

"My tenacity. My willingness just to get to the football and just play fast," Clark answered when asked what he brings to the table. "A guy that I really look up to playing is Budda Baker … He's fearless. That's me when I come to the approach the game. My weaknesses, I feel like I don't really have any weaknesses, but some things I got to work on? Definitely, and I'm gonna improve on those things as well."
