Three Under the Radar Cardinals for 2023

Three Arizona Cardinals players who can make a sneaky impact next season.

The Arizona Cardinals are mostly done adding talent to their roster, as we're now over a week removed from the 2023 NFL Draft and OTA's are quickly approaching.

It still won't be a surprise to see a few more veteran names trickle into the facility, especially now that free agent signings won't count against the compensatory formula moving forward.

Now that we have a solid idea of who will be in Arizona for 2023, we can start to formulate projected depth charts and rotations.

We all know impact players will leave their mark for the Cardinals, but who are some underrated names to watch as next year continues to approach?

Three Under the Radar Cardinals for 2023

1. WR Greg Dortch

Greg Dortch

There's been plenty of talk surrounding Cardinals receivers - whether that be DeAndre Hopkins or Marquise Brown.

However, the talent and efforts of Greg Dortch displayed last year can't go unnoticed.

It felt like Dortch consistently made plays when the ball was thrown his way, though more of his opportunities came due to injuries to Brown and Rondale Moore in 2022.

With Hopkins likely staying and the team adding Michael Wilson in the NFL Draft, the Cardinals certainly have a crowded WR room.

Yet Dortch, proven to be effective at the next level, should be able to earn playing time under a new coaching staff that will value his combination of work ethic and talent.

2. EDGE Cameron Thomas

J.J. Watt Zach Allen Cameron Thomas

There's been a lot of talk about what Arizona's front seven will look like, and rightfully so. They lost Zach Allen, J.J. Watt and Markus Golden over the last few months.

The Cardinals did add pieces like LJ Collier and BJ Ojulari, though it's unknown who will carve out a role as a starter and who will emerge as just a rotational piece.

2022 third-round pick Cameron Thomas didn't play very much during his rookie campaign, but he showed promise when he was on the field. He earned a pass-rushing grade of 70.5 last year on 155 snaps while tallying three sacks and 19 QB pressures.

Now with major pieces departing, Thomas could be in store for a step up in production.

3. OL Hjalte Froholdt

Hjalte Froholdt

After the departure of Rodney Hudson, there were some questions as to who would take his place as a starter. With other options such as Lecitus Smith and Jon Gaines, Hjalte Froholdt has a great chance to be the starter come Week 1.

Froholdt's run-blocking grade of 67.5 ranked 12th out of centers last year when he was with the Cleveland Browns.

I like where (the position) is at right now," Cardinals coach Jonathan Gannon said in a press conference. "Fro has done a really good job for us in there these last couple weeks here and we'll continue to evaluate that as we get going."

Though it remains to be seen if he can anchor the position for the coming years, it certainly looks like he'll get his shot.
