Cardinals 'Excited' About Kyler Murray's Progress, Rehab

The Arizona Cardinals have their franchise quarterback in the building as team strength and conditioning begins.

The Arizona Cardinals officially began their strength and conditioning program yesterday, the first building block in what will eventually lead into offseason team activities a bit further down the road.

While WR DeAndre Hopkins is still absent (though he's working out on his own), QB Kyler Murray is present at the facility as he works through his rehab of a torn ACL suffered late in the 2022 regular season.

“I’m not [on] Twitter or wherever he posted that, but obviously I talk to Kyler a lot,” Cardinals coach Jonathan Gannon told reporters on Tuesday during media availability.

“He’s got competitive juice, so he wants to be doing everything that he can to get out there when he can to help the team win. So, pleased where that’s at. I think I told him the other day, ‘As good as you feel, there’s going to be a little bit of a dip. You’ve got to make sure you don’t overdo it, too.’

‘That’s a part [of] being smart when you rehab from any injury. You want to go, go, go. Sometimes you’ve got to push the pause button a little bit. But, excited about where he’s at and where he’s going.”

The Cardinals have been very clear they won't be rushing Murray back, and considering Arizona has positioned themselves perfectly for a rebuild (though they refuse to publicly acknowledge it), there's no need for their franchise quarterback to rush his rehab.

Yet Murray is as competitive as they come, and it's hard to imagine he'll want to sit on the sideline for long when he does feel up to task.

The Cardinals will worry about that at a later date, however. As of now, Murray is progressing just fine.
