Cardinals Meeting With Top Pass Rusher in NFL Draft

The Arizona Cardinals are meeting with Texas Tech EDGE Tyree Wilson today, according to Sports Illustrated's Albert Breer.

The Arizona Cardinals are very much in the market for taking a pass rusher when the 2023 NFL Draft rolls around.

That could possibly come with their current slotted pick at No. 3, as Alabama edge player Will Anderson is highly regarded as the best defensive prospect coming out and is sure to make any defense better immediately upon arrival.

The Cardinals might not be in position to draft him, especially if they move outside of the top five. Arizona is highly expected to make the move down the order and acquire a plethora of draft picks to help kickstart their rebuild.

If they were to stick in the top ten, there's an obvious option for the Cardinals if they're looking to still add round one talent off the edge, and Sports Illustrated's Albert Breer reported Arizona is indeed meeting with him today: Texas Tech EDGE Tyree Wilson.

Wilson has been a possible target for the Cardinals, even if they stick at No. 3. Earlier in the offseason NFL Draft insider Daniel Jeremiah pinned Wilson to Arizona over Anderson.

Our own Andrew Harbaugh broke down the choice and dove into what makes Wilson an attractive prospect:

"The Texas Tech edge rusher put up impressive numbers during his career and has an imposing physical build to go with it. Listed at 6’6”, 275 pounds, Wilson looks the part of an NFL edge rusher whereas the question surrounding Anderson Jr. is can a slender-built edge dominate the NFL remains unanswered."

The Cardinals need help everywhere, but still landing one of the top two edge rushers in the class while also gaining high draft picks would be a great start to the rebuild in the desert.
