The Arizona Cardinals - with Colt McCoy leading the way - have the worst set of triplets in the NFL, according to recent rankings by CBS Sports.

The Cardinals were voted dead last in the QB/RB/WR rankings unanimously by 15 different people, which mostly seems to be thanks to the absence of Kyler Murray as he continues to rehab from his ACL tear.

That's quite the drop from their No. 14 spot last season. Arizona was also alone in their own separate tier with McCoy, James Conner and Marquise Brown owning the three spots.

"Kyler Murray tore his ACL in December and the Cardinals have what is pretty clearly the worst roster in football, so there is zero incentive for them to bring him back at any point this season, let alone a significant portion of it," wrote Jared Dubin. "For that reason, we went with McCoy at quarterback, and the Cardinals were a unanimous pick in dead last by our panel."

The Cardinals finished behind teams such as the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Houston Texans and Washington Commanders.

Is McCoy that bad? The 36-year-old passer has been beat up with injuries over recent years and while he's been good in a spot-start for Murray as of late, he's no longer in the familiar Kliff Kingsbury offense. It will be interesting to see if rookie QB Clayton Tune can make any push for a chance to start during training camp/preseason.

Conner himself is a fine running back and has proven more than capable of doing damage when healthy. There's some concern Arizona won't be able to supplement him with a proper secondary running back and ensure Conner's able to stay on the field.

Brown has shown the flashes of being a No. 1 receiver in Baltimore, and he did get that opportunity in the desert last year when DeAndre Hopkins served a six-game suspension. Now entering a contract year, Brown looks to elevate himself to a new level in a Cardinals uniform.

As far as Murray goes, he absolutely needs to touch the field in 2023.

Working under a new offense - in front of a new coaching staff and front office that could very well weight the option of drafting another quarterback in next year's draft - the Cardinals would be smart to see how he looks before making such a monumental decision.

The date of his return is still very much in the air, but Murray should be on the field at some point in 2023.
