Report: Cardinals Could Trade DeAndre Hopkins Soon

According to NFL insider Ian Rapoport, the Arizona Cardinals could trade DeAndre Hopkins soon.

INDIANAPOLIS -- There's been plenty of talk about a trade with the No. 3 pick in the upcoming draft here at the NFL Combine, but Arizona Cardinals general manager Monti Ossenfort isn't willing to reveal his hand one way or another.

While trade buzz will only grow louder with Arizona's top pick, the noise surrounding the status of wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins follows a similar path.

Earlier in the offseason, The Score's Jordan Schultz reported the Cardinals were actively looking to trade Hopkins. There hasn't been much movement - at least publicly.

That could be coming to an end rather soon.

NFL Media's Ian Rapoport appeared on Fox Sports 910 with Jody Oehler and said Hopkins could be dealt within the next ten days:

"Probably within the next ten days I would say," Rapoport said.

"You're looking at probably right before the start of the league year, that's where most of these trades happen. I assume there have been conversations going on around in Indy. We haven't heard a lot of rumors. I would imagine based on where he comes from, his lineage, he's not a big media guy - I would imagine Monti Ossenfort probably keeps it pretty close to the vest. He's had plenty of opportunities, he's never shut the door on a DeAndre Hopkins trade so I imagine all those things are going on now."

Hopkins' cap number ($30.75 million) is the highest on the team and is the second highest for receivers in the NFL, only trailing Tyreek Hill for 2023. If traded, the Cardinals would accrue $22.6 million in dead cap space but also gain $8.15 million in cap savings.
