Chargers Nab Multiple Michigan Wolverines in Latest Mock Draft

As the Los Angeles Chargers get ready for the NFL Draft next week, they have a lot of questions to answer. Los Angeles has needs all over their roster, including at the wide receiver and offensive line positions. The team has been looking at different scenarios to bring themselves back into a place of contention but the hard work starts now.

With new head coach Jim Harbaugh in the mix, many are expecting the Bolts to look at bringing in some of his players from the University of Michigan. The Wolverines won the National Championship last season under Harbaugh, giving him a chance to bring in some talented, young guys.

In a new mock draft by Dane Brugler of The Athletic, the Chargers do land two of Michigan's top performers. The first one comes in at pick No. 35 in the form of defensive tackle Kris Jenkins.

"It will feel like an upset if the Chargers don’t draft either Jenkins, Junior Colson or Mike Sainristil — all Michigan products — early in Round 2. I could make an argument why any of the three would make sense, and it will be interesting to see which former Wolverine Jim Harbaugh and defensive coordinator Jesse Minter prefer."

Jenkins would instantly help the Chargers defensive front, pairing him with Khalil Mack and Joey Bosa. He had 37 total tackles this past season, with 4.5 of them for loss. Jenkins also addeed 2.5 sacks to the mix but it's his presence along the defensive line that makes him a dominating player.

He has a motor that doesn't quit and he never gives up on a play. Harbaugh was a massive fan of Jenkins during their time together, giving major thought to the Bolts taking him.

On the other side of the ball, former Michigan running back Blake Corum is a possibility for the Bolts. Los Angeles doesn't have a long-term option at the running back position so Corum makes sense. Brugler has the Bolts landing Corum with pick No. 69 in the third round.

Corum was a workhorse for Harbaugh and he knows how dominating he can be. If Corum heads to Los Angeles, it could give the Chargers one of the best running back rooms around the league. Harbaugh knows the strengths and weaknesses of all the Michigan players so if any are picked by the Bolts, it will be for good reason.
